Roe vs. Wade - Get over it
All the pro-choice people are worried about Roberts' position on abortion. Does he want to, gasp, overturn Roe vs. Wade?
Of course he wants to overturn Roe vs. Wade. That's what he was chosen for - to be someone who can get approved, yet help overturn RvW. Dubya owes a lot of his election and his party's continued dominance to the conservative protestant coalition, whose chief concern is to overturn Roe vs. Wade. Overturning Roe vs. Wade is the MAIN THING those people elected Dubya to office to do.
And it's going to be overturned. Dubya is going to get to choose at least one more, and possibly 3 more, Supreme Court Justices. The Supreme Court was already in a near-deadlock, with 4 "conservatives" and 4 "liberals" whose votes were, by the laws of statistics, provably decided before hearing any evidence on many issues. Now the swing vote has been replaced with another conservative.
It's over, folks. It was over last November. Break out the coat hangers and kiss Roe vs. Wade goodbye.
BTW, the same logic that the Supreme Court recently used to say that federal laws could prohibit states from legalizing marijuana - using the federal government's authority to regulate interstate trade - could probably be used to say that federal law can prohibit states from legalizing abortion. (Or anything else, for that matter.)
